Do you think Ace Attorney is too linear because you will say the right thing or have to restart the save file? Can you choose who to talk to, prepare arguments, tell the jury what to say, and call some witnesses you find interesting?

Now, I haven’t played much of this game yet – I’ve only played the first case, the tutorial, and not even a taste. I love this. It’s the bones of something really interesting, and there are some really interesting concepts going on. I like to do my own research, I like to gather evidence and interview witnesses. I really like a cross-examination.

I don’t like jury parts; to explain, you have a number of ‘powers’ you can use to influence the jury. So far, it all seems a bit random, and I’m not really sure how, if at all, my clicking changed things. Also, they’ve never been mentioned or explained in any of the previous parts of the game, and it would have helped a lot if they had.

For the most part, the writing is good and solid, but the courtroom portion of the case is, frankly, confusing. The prosecutors – called ‘the defense’ (am I really the defense?) – were called ‘she’ at almost every point they were told until they were inexplicable ‘he’ because I think two-row, then back. to him, I don’t know if it’s just a grammar mistake or something, but since the picture was male, and he was called ‘Daniel’, I would have – and really expected – more consistency there. Not a huge bug, but just enough to take me out of the game a bit.

I’ll definitely keep playing this, but if you’re looking to buy, I might hold off until a patch or two comes out.  My recommendation? An empirical ‘yes’, with the caveat that you go in with low and unrealistic expectations.
